Grade 3 were super happy to have a visitor this week. Bessie the Bear has traveled all the way from Western Academy Beijing to be here with us for 2 weeks or so. She has been to so many cool places like Hoboken USA, Ireland, Newfoundland… you can read about her adventures on her blog here. Bessie has so many stamps in her passport and we loves seeing what the other children did with Bessie. We hope to skype with the class in China so we can talk about what we learned from Bessie, and Im sure Bessie wants to say hello!

Bessies First Becak Ride!
Bessie came a great time, Jakarta Intercultural School just finished Indonesia Week where we made wayang puppets, saw traditional puppet plays, ate Indonesian food, took becak and bajaj rides rides. Bessie really had a cultural experience! Bessie loved the becak rides! —————–>
As we were into our research unit on adaptation, we also taught Bessie how to find Creative Commons images and also introduced her to @klbeasley iBook Design Secrets Revealed (free on iTunes by the way) as we are in the process of learning about creating an effective poster. We are currently learning about CARP design principles:
- Contrast
- Alignment
- Repetition
- Proximity
