This week, we had a surprise box arrive in our classroom. It had come to KAUST by post. The children were curious, and wondered what was inside. Maybe it was a present? Maybe it was a monster? With much excitement, they helped to open it.
The first thing they could see was a small yellow shoe. Then they saw a brown furry leg, and guessed there was a bear inside. We took him out carefully and found there were many more things inside the box. We took turns to pull something out and made interesting discoveries. There was a keyring, some flags, some clothes …. and then we pulled out a special book. It was the bear’s passport.
We found out that his name is Buddy Bear, he comes from Bearland and he has been visiting children all over the world. His travels have taken him to Indonesia, Thailand, Hong Kong, Canada, USA and India. However, the first page in his passport shows us that Buddy started his adventures here at KAUST. He is now returning to make friends with this year’s K2 children. We are excited to have him join us in class. Children have been caring for him by giving him cuddles and food, helping him with his clothes and tucking him into bed.
