Welcome to Chiang Mai, Hero!

Hero arrived at our school in December just in time to celebrate the holidays with us. During this month we had many celebrations, including Christmas. Although, not all Thai people celebrate Christmas because some are Buddhist. Since Hero was visiting our international school, we still had many opportunities to celebrate. Hero made a gingerbread house, sang holiday songs from around the world at our concert, and took his picture with Santa Claus! Our grade 1 students had so much fun celebrating with him!

We are also very lucky because in December we have a holiday break. Hero stayed in Chiang Mai and tried many new things. He ate pad thai, he played football, and he even learned about Muay Thai boxing. Although, we think his favorite thing to do was go swimming!

We came back from the holiday break in the middle of January. Hero spent a day learning with teachers, anxiously waiting for students to come back.

In January, Hero has been learning how to speak Thai language. He can say:

Hello – sawadee kap (boys)
Hello – sawadee kha (girls)
How are you? – sabai dee mai

And even count to 5!
1 nueng
2 song
3 som
4 see
5 ha

We are so lucky and thankful that he was able to spend two months learning with us. We will miss him, but wish him the best of luck and safe travels as he heads off to Vietnam! Grade 1 students wrote him letters to tell about Hero’s time at APISP. Read them here.

Jer gan na, Hero! (see you later!)
