Daisy’s Busy Week

Daisy had great timing, the day before she arrived our whole of the elementary school was learning all about Earth Day. We all wore green and had a school assembly where the older elementary children showed us different ways to help keep the planet green and clean. The next morning it was exciting going to the office to collect Daisy in her special package all the way from Taiwan.

Since Daisy arrived at the International School Of Phnom Penh, she has been quite busy in the Early Years classrooms.  She has been a favourite friend while helping children learn a bit more about the SDG#2 Zero Hunger.  We now have a better understanding that Daisy has come to visit us to help us learn about some of the more significant global world issues. We were thrilled to learn from Daisy’s passport and souvenirs about what other countries she has been to and where else she has spread the message of Zero Hunger.

We used stickers to track where on the globe Daisy has been

We borrowed the globe from one of our KG classrooms. Having the globe in EY and exploring the countries, inspired us to create our own image of the world.

We learned that our Earth is a planet in the universe and surrounded by stars.

Daisy has enjoyed coming to see our healthy food choices at snack time each morning. She was happy to see us eating our fruit and trying new foods to see if we like them. She has even come to our brand new Early Years Cafeteria which just opened this month. She was envious of all our different healthy food options and was very impressed with the way we can all independently choose our lunch and tidy up afterwards.

Using the iPad the children enjoyed learning how to scan the QR codes she had brought along from her other visits and in her passport. Our EY2 group loved listening to the stories the children from other schools around the world had to share.

We scanned the codes to listen to the stories the other schools sent to share.

We found it very interesting to learn more about the different books Daisy recommends.  She came with us to our Knowledge Centre where our school Library is and we were very excited to find some of her favourite books in our library.
